Why add an API service?
The API lets your phone securely read server data. LiveTa needs its dedicated connector; TeslaMate alone cannot pair with the app.

For a fresh install, prepare Docker, Compose 2.30+ and Python 3.9+.
Use LiveTa API from the setup package. Keep your existing TeslaMate image; configuration and connection checks determine compatibility.
Beta installer: offline checks passed; fresh-host end-to-end testing is pending. HTTPS sign-in and pairing, shared galleries and remote push still need separate configuration.
What will this command do?
- Find TeslaMate and detect its network, database and MQTT settings.
- Verify the package and build LiveTa API in a separate directory.
- Keep existing services and verify read-only database access and MQTT login.
- Open the local assistant for HTTPS setup and pairing.
- Check Docker, Compose and Python.
- Generate random credentials and install TeslaMate, PostgreSQL, Grafana and MQTT.
- Build LiveTa API and verify its connections.
- Open the pairing assistant; authorize your vehicle yourself.
- Extract and upload the complete package to a separate NAS directory.
- Existing users can use automatic detection over NAS SSH. For GUI configuration, use the manual guide.
- For a new setup, run TeslaMate and its supporting services, then add LiveTa API.
Run the online command after www.liveta.net and HTTPS are active. A ZIP download is also available. Fresh-host installation still requires end-to-end verification.
Connect the LiveTa app
- Choose Tailscale, existing HTTPS or Cloudflare in the local assistant.
- Generate a one-time pairing QR code.
- Open LiveTa → Settings → TeslaMate Connection. Scan, verify the address and select your vehicle.
LiveTa accepts trusted HTTPS addresses only. Pairing codes are generated on your server, expire after 10 minutes and can be used once.
Do not enter database passwords or create real pairing QR codes on this website. For Cloudflare, generate the full QR in the assistant; it contains Access credentials and must stay private.
Requirements, limitations & manual setup
Requires Docker with Linux containers, Compose 2.30+ and Python 3.9+. Select a container when multiple TeslaMate instances exist. Custom database TLS, host networking and Unix sockets require manual setup.
Settings stay in ~/LiveTa-Setup. An existing directory or API stops installation. Docker, Tailscale and Cloudflare are not installed automatically. Offline checks passed; fresh-host end-to-end validation is still pending.
Manual setup & troubleshooting ↗Automatic detection may reuse the TeslaMate database account. A default read-only session is not an enforced database permission boundary. Ask your administrator to configure a dedicated read-only role if stronger isolation is needed.
